Lions Martial Arts Federation is a martial arts affiliation of member schools, clubs, and groups. The Federation also has an integrated Lions Academy school, with a mission that complements that of the Federation. The Federation is also classified as a 501c(3) tax exempt public charity by the IRS.
The Federation is the marketing and governance arm of Lions (which includes legal and regulatory compliance), while the Academy is the training arm.
Lions Martial Arts Academy is wholly contained within and governed by the Federation. The Academy defines and establishes the curriculum of the Federation.
The Academy is the training arm of Lions, while the Federation is the marketing and governance arm. The Academy is the training center for the instructors that the Federation provides to other member schools and groups.
The Academy's martial arts curriculum can be best described as "old-school" Taekwondo, but with the WTF Taeguek forms. Our curriculum administrator and chief instructor for all martial arts training is Korean Grandmaster Yong Woo Kim (GM Kim is also the Executive Advisor for the Federation).
Our curriculum advisor/administrator for all medically-related sports science training is Dr. Darren Jenkins. This includes topics such as kinesiology, physiology, exercise injuries and treatment, first aid, CPR, human nutrition and health. Also, our medic personnel for tournaments comes from this branch.
Parents are always welcome to our classes!
1. Lion Cubs: Generally 5 years old and younger. We will eventually have something specific for this group, but we don't currently. Parents can instead sign their children up in our Young Lions program if they wish.
2. Young Lions: 1st to 8th Grade classes after EVERY normal school day (with school ending at 3:30 PM). Free bus is available, picking up from Morning Star and Ensign Learning Center around 3:50 PM. Uniform is provided, and snack is provided before class. Parent pickup is 5:30 PM. Grandmaster Kim teaches this group M-W-F, and other days are taught by other instructors.
3. Lions: 9th Grade to 34 years old. This is our adult class. Students at Vanguard (high school) are in this group. We also have an adult class at our gym 5:30 pm to 6:45 pm, M-W-F (except holidays), also taught by Grandmaster Kim.
4. Silver Lions: Curriculum targets 35 years to 64 years old, but ages 18 to 100 will be accepted. See this page for information on differences between this program and our regular Lions program. This class is 7:00 PM on T-Th at our gym. We also teach this at Standard, Thursdays at 5:00 PM. Contact us if you would like this program set up at your business-- we will come to you.
5. White Lions: Seniors, 65+ years old. We will eventually have something specific for this group, but we don't currently. Seniors can instead enroll in our Silver Lions program.
